Precision You Can Hear

In 12 October 2025, ASL Car Audio Sdn Bhd hosted the Pegasus DSP-Tuning Seminar — a hands-on workshop dedicated to digital signal processing and in-car sound calibration. Dealers and installers moved between classroom fundamentals and live tuning practice in real vehicles, working directly with Pegasus amplifiers and processors under trainer guidance.

The day was built around one idea: a DSP is only as good as the hands tuning it. Correct gain structure, time alignment, and EQ decisions are what turn a correctly wired system into one that actually sounds right.

Presented alongside Hector Lee of JFF Autoworks — a judge for IASCA, MECA, EMMA, SQC, MACE and CAN, with over 20 years of installation and tuning experience shared with attendees on the day.

Every attendee left with a reference in hand. ASL Car Audio’s own DSP Tuning Handbook was distributed on the day — a printed companion for the tuning sheets and notes participants filled in during hands-on practice.

A Day, Broken Into Sessions
01

DSP Fundamentals

Digital crossovers, time alignment, and parametric EQ — taught against real tuning scenarios, not just slides.

02

Live In-Car Tuning

Trainers ran tuning software live from demo vehicles, adjusting channels and correction curves in real time.

03

Hands-On Practice

Every participant took the driver’s seat for guided, one-on-one tuning practice with trainer support.

Topics Covered on the Day

01 · CROSSOVER

Crossover Filters

Setting each speaker’s frequency range so highs, mids, and bass blend cleanly.

02 · TIME ALIGNMENT

Time Alignment

Correcting for speaker distance so sound arrives at the ear together.

03 · PHASE

Phase

Keeping every driver working in harmony instead of cancelling each other out.

04 · EQ

EQ & Q Factor

Fine-tuning tone so the system sounds natural, not harsh or boomy.

05 · CHANNELS

Channel Configuration

Matching 6, 8, or 10-channel DSP setups to each vehicle’s speaker layout.

More Than a Certificate

Every attendee walked away with more than notes — a Certificate of Completion that stands as Pegasus’s formal recognition of hands-on DSP-tuning competency.
